When you decide to have some entertainment for your event what helps you make a decision?
So many times we see or hear about people booking entertainment “sight unseen” from ads (yellow pages, newspapers) or use agents without really realising the important role that entertainment plays in the success of an event.
The right entertainers can play a key role as well as perform their work – they can help you make a point, participate in the meet and greet of guests, act as “traffic controllers” assisting with the flow of your event, roam throughout a stand-up event to draw guests to key areas…as well as be, well, entertaining.

- Know your target audience thoroughly! Make an appropriate choice based on the demographic of the audience and the aims of the event. There is no point having a rock band at full volume if the guests are trying to network.
- Ensure the entertainment is appropriate for your event theme. Making sure that everything for your event is in harmony is one of the secrets to creating a sensational event. Don’t look at your entertainment in isolation – it is just one part of the big picture.
- “Vet” your entertainment. Beware of choosing someone based on their own website or promotional material. Utilise industry knowledge to ensure that your entertainer is first class!
- Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. While keeping the above points in mind, a unique entertainment experience will ensure that your event stays in the forefront of your guest’s minds.
